Classics FC maintained their perfect start to the season when on Wednesday they emerged victorious in a tight encounter with Birkirkara St Joseph. The only goal of the match was scored by team captain P. Azzopardi.

The game, played at the Mqabba ground, saw both teams having equal scoring chances. In one of the few mistakes at the back, the Birkirkara SJ skipper mis-judged his back-pass to his keeper and gifted P. Azzopardi with a golden opportunity to open the scoring. Azzopardi did not hesitate and scored his third goal of the season, giving Classics FC a hard-earned lead at half time.

In the second half, Birkirkara SJ moved forward and threatened the Classics FC goal on numerous occasions. However, thanks to great saves by S. Lazze’ the team managed to keep a clean sheet and bag the precious three points.

Classics FC are now joint leaders with Mellieha Bobs, who also have three wins from three games. Classics FC play Red Marleys next on November 26, 2009. The game will be played at the Zabbar ground.
