Classics FC to face tough opposition in Knock Out Print E-mail
11 December 2009

On February 16 Classics FC will play fourth division side Boca Juniors in the second round of this year’s Knock Out Competition. The game will take place at the Hamrun pitch, with kick-off starting at 630pm. To qualify for this round, Boca trashed fellow fourth division side Gzira United 4-0.

This year’s KO will again be split in two, with one competition being held indoors for first and second division sides and another one being held outdoors for the third and fourth divisions. The first round of the 3rd/ 4th division competition, which involved 28 fourth division sides, took place between the end of November and the second week of December. The second round will see the qualified sides facing third division sides, with eventual winners reaching a further third round, quarter-final, semi-final and final to be held on May 27. Classics FC have never qualified beyond the quarter-final stage, a stage reached in both the last two seasons.

In the league, Boca Juniors have an impressive track record having won all games comfortably. In fact, they have played 3 games in Section A, winning against Urban Legends 7–1, Real Amazon 5-0 and Deportivo Estudentes F.C. 7-3.

In the second round, the teams in the same league section as Classics FC will be facing the following opposition:

St. Helen Band Club vs Marsaxlokk FC
Birkirkara St.Joseph SC vs Melita Sports
New Team Futsal Club vs Cougars FC
Mellieha Bobs vs Progress Press
Sliema Futsal vs Napoli Club Malta
Red Marleys vs Kimmon FC
Todos FC vs Bighi Boys

All the above matches will be played between February 15 and February 18.
