Todos make it three from three PDF Print E-mail

On Friday night Classics FC ended their season after succumbing to their third seasonal defeat at the hands of Todos. Playing for the first time in their history in the Knock Out semi-final, Classics FC lost 2-1 despite a good performance.

Opportunities were far between and sporadic in the first half, as both teams started off wary of their opponents. Mid-way through the half, however, Todos were lucky to forge ahead thanks to a J. Brincat shot which was deflected by a Classics defender, leaving C. Magri stranded. Just before half time Classics almost equalised thanks to a T. Fenech deflection, but M. Attard was in fine form to deny his opponents.

The second half saw Classics FC intensify their attack, but in a counter-attacking move Todos immediately capitalised to score their second goal thanks to a well-taken goal by Falzon. With the game seemingly dead and buried, M. Muscat replied within minutes and pulled one back for Classics thanks to a scorcher from the half-way line – a definite candidate for club goal of the season. This goal galvanised Classics FC, who pressed forward with more insistence, coming close to equalise on several occasions. Nevertheless, this was too little to late as the game was soon over and Classics were knocked out of the competition. Todos will now play Luqa St. Andrews in the Knock Out final.

Despite this loss signified the end of any Knock Out aspirations Classics had in order to make up for their league promotion disappointment, the season can is considered to be a positive one and augurs well for a good outing next season.
